Big money was dealt a blow yesterday when their Missouri "Right-to-Work" bill failed to get the necessary votes. Republican puppets in Missouri are being played by the American Legislative Exchange Council or ALEC an "extreme right wing" arm of people like Grover Norquist and the Koch brothers.
Former IAM District 9 Business Representative and current Secretary-Treasurer of the Missouri AFL-CIO Mike Louis celebrated the vote by saying, "Today's vote should be a major wake-up call to the extremists who have been pushing this divisive agenda at the expense of Missouri's middle class. Although Grover Norquist did get the vote he demanded from House leaders, the strong bipartisan opposition to HB1770 stopped this unfair and unnecessary bill in its tracks for the 2014 session. Now that enough Republicans and Democrats voted in favor of the working people in their districts instead of shady special interest groups, the remaining weeks of session should be spent on jobs, not more of the ALEC agenda intended to impress deep-pocketed donors."
So called "Right-to-work" is never brought up by working men and women, it's always a page right out of the righ wing play book and pushed by big business interests. It really needs to be called by it's proper name or "Right-to-work-for-less" because there is nothing positive in these bills when it comes to workers or their rights.
